ABOUT US:
Founded in 2009, The Uptown Soccer Academy (USA) offers free soccer training, health education and service learning projects to under-served young people in Washington Heights and Inwood.
As a truly global sport soccer has great appeal amongst the diverse community of Northern Manhattan, however the costs of learning and playing the game in New York City are often prohibitively high. USA ensures that its program is free for all participants in order to encourage more urban youth to play the sport, and also to provide high level coaching for advanced players who are looking to further develop their game.
USA recognizes the dearth of quality programs for young people in Northern Manhattan, and also the health and education challenges that face our community. By encouraging youth to get active, and also educating them about healthy lifestyle choices USA is making a positive contribution to the overall health of our neighnorhoods.
USA also believes that through sport, young people can learn important values, such as teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship and respect, that can be transferred to other areas of their life. Through a shared passion for soccer USA is helping positively shape the futures of the youth of Washington Heights and Inwood.
